Seyuu Privacy Policy
Welcome to Seyuu ("Seyuu," "we," "us," or "our")—the app that turns your photos into unique short stories, with text-to-speech and persistent storage features. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect when you use Seyuu, how we use and protect that data, and your rights regarding your information. By downloading, accessing, or using Seyuu, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. We comply with applicable U.S. data protection laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
1. What Personal Data We Collect
We only collect data that is necessary to provide, improve, and secure Seyuu’s core features. The data we collect falls into two categories: data you provide directly and data we collect automatically.
1.1 Data You Provide Directly
- User Photos: When you upload existing photos from your device or capture new photos in Seyuu (to generate stories), we collect these images temporarily (for story generation) and store them in your account (if you use our persistent storage feature) – we never access or view your photos for any purpose other than providing the Service.
- Generated Stories: The short stories Seyuu creates for you are stored in your account (at your request) to enable future access and text-to-speech playback. These stories are tied to your account and are considered your personal content.
- Account Information: If you create a Seyuu account (to save stories across devices), we collect your email address (for account verification and communication) and a password (hashed for security – we do not store plain-text passwords).
- Support Communications: If you contact our customer service team (via storyhelperseyuu888@outlook.com), we collect your name (if provided), email address, and the content of your message to respond to your inquiry.
1.2 Data We Collect Automatically
- Device & Usage Data: We collect basic device information (e.g., device model, operating system version, unique device identifier) and usage data (e.g., which features you use most, how often you generate stories, time spent on the app) to improve Seyuu’s performance, fix bugs, and tailor the app to user needs. This data is anonymized where possible (e.g., aggregated usage trends) and never tied to your identity without your account information.
- Text-to-Speech Usage Data: We track when you use the text-to-speech feature (e.g., number of times you play a story aloud) to optimize audio quality and ensure the feature works smoothly – we do not store the audio recordings of your stories.
- Storage Activity Data: We collect data about your storage actions (e.g., when you save/delete a story) to maintain your account’s story library and ensure data integrity.
Important Note: We do NOT collect sensitive personal information (e.g., credit card details, health information, location data) unless you explicitly provide it – and Seyuu has no features that require such data.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data only for the purposes stated in this Policy and never for unstated or unrelated reasons. Your data is used to:
- Provide the Seyuu Service:
- Process your photos to generate unique short stories (using our automated AI technology).
- Enable text-to-speech playback of your generated stories.
- Store your photos and stories in your account (per your request) for easy future access.
- Maintain your account (if you have one) – e.g., verifying your email, resetting your password.
- Improve Seyuu:
- Analyze usage trends (e.g., which story styles users prefer) to enhance story generation quality.
- Fix technical issues (e.g., bugs in text-to-speech or storage) based on device and activity data.
- Update features (e.g., adding new story themes) that align with user needs.
- Ensure Security:
- Protect your account and data from unauthorized access (e.g., using hashed passwords, monitoring for unusual login activity).
- Prevent misuse of the Service (e.g., detecting and blocking uploads of inappropriate content, per our User Agreement).
- Communicate With You:
- Respond to your support inquiries (via email).
- Send important updates about Seyuu (e.g., changes to this Privacy Policy, service outages) – we never send unsolicited marketing emails.
Data Retention: We retain your data only for as long as needed to provide the Service or comply with legal obligations:
- User Photos & Generated Stories: Stored in your account for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently delete all your photos and stories within 30 days (unless required by law to retain them).
- Account Information: Retained until you request account deletion (after which we delete your email and hashed password).
- Automated Usage Data: Anonymized usage data may be retained indefinitely to improve the Service; non-anonymized data (tied to your account) is deleted when your account is closed.
3. How We Share Your Data (and When We Don’t)
We never sell your personal data to third parties for marketing or commercial purposes. We only share your data in the following limited circumstances:
3.1 Service Providers (Processors)
We work with trusted third-party service providers to help operate Seyuu (e.g., cloud storage providers to host your photos/stories, email services to send account updates). These providers are contractually required to:
- Only use your data to perform the services we hire them for (not for their own purposes).
- Protect your data with security measures comparable to ours.
- Comply with U.S. data protection laws.
Examples of such providers: Cloud storage platforms (to securely store your account data) and text-to-speech API providers (to power the audio feature) – we do not share your photos or stories with these providers beyond what is necessary for feature functionality.
3.2 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your data if required by law (e.g., a court order, subpoena) or to protect our rights, safety, or the safety of others. This includes:
- Responding to valid legal requests from government authorities.
- Investigating or preventing fraud, illegal activity, or violations of our User Agreement.
3.3 Mergers or Acquisitions
If Seyuu is acquired, merged, or sells all or part of its assets, your data may be transferred to the new owner – but the new owner will be required to comply with this Privacy Policy (or a similar policy that protects your rights).
We Never Share Your Data For: Third-party marketing, advertising, or any purpose not explicitly stated in this Policy.
4. How We Protect Your Data
We take the security of your personal data seriously and implement reasonable technical, administrative, and physical measures to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss. These measures include:
- Encryption: Your account password is stored using industry-standard hashing (so we cannot read it), and your photos/stories are encrypted during transmission (via HTTPS) and storage (at rest in our cloud servers).
- Access Controls: Only authorized Seyuu team members (e.g., engineers working on storage features) have limited access to user data – and only for the purpose of maintaining or improving the Service. All team members are required to sign confidentiality agreements.
- Security Audits: We periodically review and update our security practices (e.g., testing for vulnerabilities) to address new threats.
- User Controls: You can protect your data by:
- Using a strong, unique password for your Seyuu account.
- Deleting photos/stories you no longer need (via the app’s "Delete" feature).
- Logging out of your account on shared devices.
Important Limitation: No online service is 100% secure. While we take all reasonable steps to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You assume slight risk when using Seyuu (e.g., from unauthorized access due to a device breach).
5. Your Rights Regarding Your Data
Under U.S. law (including CCPA), you have certain rights over your personal data. We make it easy for you to exercise these rights through the app or by contacting us:
- Right to Access: You can view all your data in Seyuu at any time (e.g., your stored photos, stories, and account details) by logging into your account and navigating to the "My Library" or "Account Settings" section.
- Right to Correct: If your account information (e.g., email address) is incorrect, you can update it in "Account Settings" or contact us to make changes.
- Right to Delete:
- Delete individual photos/stories: Use the "Delete" button next to each item in your library.
- Delete your entire account (and all associated data): Go to "Account Settings" > "Delete Account" (or contact us to request deletion). We will confirm your request and delete all data within 30 days.
- Right to Opt Out of Data Sharing: Since we do not share your data for marketing, this right primarily applies to service provider sharing – if you object to a specific provider, contact us, and we will work with you to find an alternative (where possible).
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not deny you access to Seyuu or charge you more if you exercise your privacy rights.
Exercising Your Rights: If you need help accessing or deleting your data (e.g., if you cannot log into your account), contact our support team at storyhelperseyuu888@outlook.com with your request. We may ask for verification (e.g., confirming your email) to protect your data from unauthorized requests.
6. Children’s Privacy
Seyuu is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will immediately delete that data and terminate the child’s account. Parents or guardians who believe their child has used Seyuu can contact us to request data deletion.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time (e.g., to reflect new features or changes in law). When we make material changes (e.g., changes to how we collect or share data), we will:
- Post the updated Policy in Seyuu (under "Settings" > "Privacy Policy").
- Send a notification to your registered email address (if you have an account) at least 7 days before the changes take effect.
Your continued use of Seyuu after the effective date of the updated Policy means you accept the changes. We recommend reviewing this Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your data.
This Privacy Policy is part of Seyuu’s legal terms, alongside our User Agreement. If you have not read the User Agreement, please do so before using Seyuu.
